Love, that is. For 21 years and about 7 months I believed that this was false. I believed that I had loved; I thought I loved X even though she didn’t return the sentiment and even when I got with Y I wasn’t sure what I had. Y was great company and kept me content, and for these reasons I reciprocated the affection. But I always wondered just how much of what I did was duty/reciprocation and how much was of my own accord? It was probably a tie.

However, come May 2010 and the incident, I realized just how important she is to me. It’s all the cliches you’ve ever heard – the feeling of emptyness and of being incomplete, wanting to give her the world, always thinking about her, etc. Everyday I come back home wishing she were there waiting for me. It’s not about sex, it’s her laugh, her smile, her smell, her company, and all of her quirks. When she left Galveston after visiting, the heartache was incredible. I realize now that she is the passion in my life that I have always been looking for; not music, not running, not videogames, not money, not success. It’s her. I love her.

At 3AM on a Saturday, my friend had trouble falling asleep so she asked for a bed time story. This is the story I spontaneously created (I’m proud of it):

[02:46] once upon a time there was this very large bicycle
[02:47] we’re talking like a bicycle that would fit the person the size of hagrid
[02:47] and it was made out of really thick metal
[02:47] the funny thing was that
[02:47] it was actually a bike rack for smaller bicycles
[02:48] and it was usually always sitting in place so the regular humans would always chain their bikes to it
[02:48] however, one day
[02:48] a giant passed by and was like
[02:48] ”i’ve always wanted to ride a bike, and this will be perfect for me!”
[02:48] so the giant took the bike, regular bikes chained and all, and rode it away
[02:49] as he rode, all of the bikes were making a big commotion and everyone was wondering what was going on
[02:49] but to the giant, it was like bells jingling
[02:50] when the regular bike owners came back
[02:50] they couldnt find the bike rack and they were bewildered
[02:50] ”someone must’ve stolen all of our bikes!”
[02:50] so, they formed a search party for the bicycles and scoured the city
[02:51] finally, they found the giant bike outside of mattress giant where the giant was taking a long nap
[02:51] the people wondered how their bikes got there, and called a tow truck to bring it back to its rightful spot
[02:52] so when the giant awoke, his brand new bicycle
[02:52] was gone
[02:53] at first he was very angry, jumping on all of the mattresses at mattress giant in a rage and breaking them
[02:53] however, as he calmed down, he was overtaken by grief
[02:53] and grabbed the nearest bed sheets to use as tissues
[02:54] and finally, after he recovered, he vowed to find his bicycle
[02:54] so as he set out on his adventure, he passed by all sorts of other things that he could’ve had instead
[02:54] there was a giant hummer limo
[02:55] and he said NO
[02:55] there was a jumbo jet
[02:55] and again he said NO
[02:55] and then
[02:55] there was even a cruise boat passing by
[02:55] and of course, he said NO
[02:55] until finally, after searching far and wide, he found his bicycle
[02:55] at this time, it was already very late at night
[02:56] all of the normal people took their bicycles and rode them back home
[02:56] so now the giant’s bicycle had no more bells
[02:56] but he didn’t care, he was still so happy that he had found his bike
[02:56] so, the giant took the bike and rode it away
[02:56] he never lost sight of his bike
[02:56] and rode it all around the world
[02:57] of course, the next morning, the regular people wondered where their bike rack went again
[02:57] but they never found it because
[02:57] the giant had already ridden it to antarctica where the penguins were perching on it
[02:58] thus, the giant now had penguin decorations on his bicycle rather than smaller bicycles
[02:58] that made him happy
[02:58] so he lived there for the rest of his life with his bicycle
[02:58] and penguins
[02:58] and thats the story of
[02:58] santa claus’ brother
[02:58] the end

I think rather than going forward an hour in the spring and then back in the fall, we should just flip 12 hours each time. Just for sng. I mean, wouldn’t it be cool if everyone lived in the night and slept during the day? The sales on those eye covers would explode. I’d definitely invest in that company. Or maybe if the populus can’t take that drastic of a switch, we should just fall back 1 hour each time instead. Sunrise at 12pm? Why not? I’ll call my idea Operation Night Light.

Speaking of night lights, nowadays there’s some pretty cool night lights. I hated my night light back in the day. It was just one of those tiny light bulbs with a piece of hard plastic molded into the semblance of a cup around it. If I was a kid nowadays, I would tell my parents I’m scared of the dark just to get a night light like that. I bet that’s exactly what some of them do. We make our kids want to be sissies.

At least I’m glad to see they still have these babies. My room still looks like the milky way at night. I gotta decorate my whole apartment with these things. It’s gonna be just a galaxy, it’s gonna be the UNIVERSE.

In related news, my apartment next year will be within walking distance of school, but even closer to the beach…too bad it’s Galveston beach.
